Motion Lab
Use AI to build the motion design tools and workflows you wish existed.
Motion Lab is a private community for motion designers learning to use AI to build scripts, extensions, and plugins for motion design in real time.
Membership is $48/month or $388/year.
Not another passive course library
A live workspace for motion designers learning what AI can actually do for them.
AI is moving fast. So fast that a traditional course can feel outdated before it’s even finished.
Motion Lab is where I’ll be building, testing, and teaching the workflows I’m using to make motion design work faster, smarter, and more flexible.
It’s not about replacing motion designers. It’s about helping motion designers build the workflows, apps, tools, scripts, and systems they always wished existed.
What’s inside

Your first 30 days
Here’s exactly where you’ll start.
Motion Lab isn’t a pile of random AI tips. You’ll have a clear path into the community, the core primer content, and the first live builds.
Get oriented
Join the community, watch the primer videos, and introduce what you’re hoping to learn, automate, or build.
Shape the lab together
In the first live session, we’ll talk through planned Motion Lab projects, member ideas, and the direction of the community.
Build your foundation
Start with practical foundations like ExtendScript 101 and AI Models 101 to get up to speed.
Build a knowledge base
We’ll work through how to start a self-improving knowledge base you can use with AI to build better motion design tools.
Why learn this with Jake?
I’m not teaching AI as a theory. I’m building with it in the same motion design world you work in.
I’ve spent years teaching motion designers how to make After Effects feel less intimidating and more powerful. My courses, tutorials, and tools have helped hundreds of thousands of designers understand animation, expressions, scripting, and workflow-building in practical, approachable ways.Â
I’ve also spent the last three years using AI to build real motion design tools — not just experimenting with prompts, but shipping scripts, extensions, and workflows used by tens of thousands of designers. Motion Lab is where I’ll teach that process as it keeps evolving.

Hi, I'm Jake
I live in Denver, Colorado with my wife, two kids, and a Dalmatian named Pixel. For more than a decade I've been teaching motion designers how to work more efficiently.
You might have seen some of my 30+ Skillshare courses, one of my courses at School of Motion, or the motion design tutorials on my YouTube channel.
Teaching is my passion, and it shows through my content. I'm genuinely excited to teach you and have a special skill for breaking down technical workflows and creative processes into easy-to-understand videos in a fun and engaging way.
I hope to see you in one of my classes. Â
